CurlinglePrivacy Policy
Curlingle ("the app") is made by The Appary ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app and its server collect, how it's used, and the choices you have.
What we collect
Your account
You sign in with Apple. Apple gives us a stable account identifier, and, if you choose to share them, your name and email address (which may be a private relay address). We keep a session record to keep you signed in, including the IP address and device user agent used when the session was created.
What you save
When you share something to Curlingle or write a thought, we store what you sent: the link, any text, its title, and any note you add. To understand a save, the server may fetch the linked page. For posts on X and YouTube videos, your iPhone reads the post or the video's details and transcript and sends them with the save. We also store details derived from each save, such as its language and topic.
Your connections
We store the connections written for you, the sources they cite, and the candidate sources considered while writing them.
Preferences and notifications
We store your time zone, your connection language and your delivery time. If you allow notifications, we store your device's push token so Apple's Push Notification service can deliver your daily connection.
How we use it
- To keep your saves and connections in sync between the app and the Share button.
- To write your daily connection: choosing a save, searching for related material, writing the piece and checking it against its sources.
- To send the notification that your connection is ready, if you allowed it.
- To keep the service running and secure, using short-lived server logs.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
Who processes it
We rely on a small number of service providers, who process data only to provide their service to us:
- Cloudflare hosts the server and the database where your account, saves and connections are stored.
- Vercel AI Gateway routes requests to the AI models that read your saves, write connections and evaluate them (for example, models from Z.ai and Google). Evaluation may also run through TypeSafe AI or OpenRouter. These requests contain the text of the save being processed.
- Perplexity search (through Vercel AI Gateway) receives search queries generated from a save, not your account details.
- Apple provides Sign in with Apple and delivers push notifications.
- When the server fetches a link you saved, the website at that link (or X's public embed service, for X posts) receives an ordinary request from our server, not from your device.
Retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete an individual save in the app, and you can delete your whole account in Settings → Delete account. This immediately removes your account, saves, connections, devices and preferences from our database. Copies may remain in our hosting provider's backups for up to 30 days before they are overwritten.
If you can't access the app, email us at the address below and we'll delete your account for you.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, or to object to how it's processed. Email us and we'll respond within 30 days.
Children
Curlingle is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above, and for significant changes we'll let you know in the app.
